• Hi,

I’m using WordPress 3.4.1, with GraphPaperpress’s Widescreen theme. I’ve just updated to Option Tree 2.0.3.

After this update the “Theme Options” under “Appearance” (where the Option Tree options reside) does not open properly anymore. The options for Fonts, Custom CSS, and Slideshow are inaccessible (there seems to be no link under them), and the General option (which is the landing page, so it’s open when I access the Theme Options) is garbled.

I’ve not changed anything but this Option Tree update.

Other active plugins are “HumansNotBots” v3.1 and “WP Google Fonts” v2.7

Is there any way to downgrade to the previous Option Tree version?
Or is there a solution for this problem?

    Kind regards,
    Joris

  • The main reason that I have over 100 options is because my client wishes to be able to update EVERYTHING without touching code. He purchased a themeforest template already using your option tree and i have since changed the layout of the theme to suit his image/branding.

But in our instance, option tree is being used to enable/disable certain overlays on the page, as well as the ability to manually add and edit menu items (the wordpress menu functionality is not being used in this site). But yeah, it pretty much has over 100 because there are a bunch of different widgets, overlays and plugins that can be enabled and disabled using option tree as well as configured using option tree.

I also have all of the typography of the site editable through option tree too. I have:

Header (ability to change logo, subtitle etc)
Overlays (ability to turn on and off overlays and change content inside the overlays)
Socials (ability to turn on and off social networking icons in the header as well as editing what page they link to)
Favicons (adding and editing the favicons used by the site
Footer (ability to turn on or off a collapsable footer as well as editing what widgets appear inside the collapsable footer such as quick contact forms etc)
Fonts (ability to change all typography for the site using google web fonts and specification of sizes for h1 – h6 and body and line height)
    Highlight Colors

etc etc. It goes on and on ??

I successfully imported your XML file and every single one of your 190+ options are available for me to use on the Theme Options page. The problem is likely to be with your server setup. Off the top of my head I would say it’s either limiting your max execution time for PHP or your DB is imposing character limits.

Thanks Derek for the help with this. I’ve now reinstalled version 1.1.8.1 with Cudazi Mono and can now upload logo image, save successfully but for some reason it’s not displaying on site. This is the same for colors too.

Derek what is ftp and what is the proper way to get rid of OT and re install the older version??

    @skettiegirl:

Derek addressed this earlier. Don’t worry about FTP – all you have to do is go to the “Plugins” page of WordPress admin area; deactivate the newest OT plugin and then delete it; install the older version of the OT plugin and then activate it.

And in case you missed it, here’s the link to download the older plugin version:

    Hi,

I seem to be having a problem that some others are having, where I have just updated WordPress and OptionTree, and now I am no longer able to see the fields in my Theme Options editing panel–the panel appears collapsed into 2 lines (and there’s no XML button to refresh). I did already try uninstalling 2.0.6 and installing the 1.8.1 version, but apparently that one isn’t compatible with WP 3.4.1, and so none of the edits/images update on my site. My theme is Reaction WP (a derivation of the Skeleton framework, from Themeforest), and I have also notified the theme’s author.

This is just ridiculous. And upsetting. I have had to reinstall uninstall reinstall Option tree again! and now the theme developer had advised me to reinstall the theme. Because of one error of you not testing your plug in. That is so many opportunities and money lost.

    Am on Indianmemoryproject.com

I upgraded to plug in Option tree .2.03 then to 2.08 when I clicked on it a few days later. It did, but the text had moved around, google analytics lost tracking, the foot wrapper, Nav bar spacing and caption specs in custom CSS not followed.
Then wordpress forum said to downgrade. which I did. deactivated latest version, deleted, reinstalled via ftp the Option tree 1.1.8.1 version
But even with the downgraded replacement as the original one. It isn’t following any of the option tree instructions. Except for logo placement. What do i do? This is so frustrating!

I can’t be solely responsible for every single theme in the world that uses OT, and it’s unreasonable to require 100% compatibility with 1.x. The new version is a complete rebuild from the ground up and with the goal of being compatible with WordPress, which it most definitely is 100% compatible with WordPress.

    Take a chill pill Anusha.

Just a tip for future reference: If you’re looking for help — jumping into a support thread, ranting about how bad a plugin is, and insulting the developer (all in your very first post) — is not the greatest way to go about getting it. Especially when it’s a free plugin.

So I have de-installed 2.08 and now back to 1.1.8.1 version. Why is my logo not showing up?? Any ideas? Like this theme but a bit frustrating to work with. Please advise. I just started. THANKS.

@wacosta I’m truly sorry you’re having issue with your logo. However, unless the theme author contacts me so I can make adjustments for their theme, I can’t help as I’m not familiar with what their code is doing. Please tell them to get in touch.

    Cheers,
    Derek

    Hi,

If I delete the current OptionTree plugin and then upload the earlier version from above, will all my added features (such as background, slider, font etc. that I can no longer edit on the new version) still be saved when I re-upload the earlier version or would they have all been deleted when I deleted the current plugin? I have heard that doing this could damage my website, is this true or is it safe to revert back to the previous plugin version in this way?

I use this theme on my site: https://themeforest.net/item/multimedia-music-video-picture-blog-wp/161039

    Cheers,

    Dan

Could this be related? Optiontree is empty in my XAMP testbed but works fine on the online website. I’ve followed your notes wrt PHP and using the earlier version but no luck. Do you or anyone else know if there is a quirk in XAMP that fights Optiontree?

Update: I spoke too soon. After the PHP fix, downgrade & upgrade, all is well. Thanks.

Downgrade worked fine, thanks! (Another Cudazi mono user)
