I’ve been using Wp-polls for quite some time now.

Recently I noticed that the time is off when I create a poll. I’m on CET (Netherlands) but when I create and save a new poll with the time it was created, the status “future” appears instead of “open” and the poll is not visible on the page. I have to manually subtract an hour.

Second issue is that since last week I have a new theme in place and now the layout of the page is a bit screwed up as well. It’s not a problem, just annoying.

Could all these problems be related to the fact that WP has been updated regularly but the plugin hasn’t? Is there a way to fix these issues myself?

This is the first time I heard of this issue. So I tried on my test install and I can’t reproduce this on my end, when I create the poll, it appears open immediately.
Did you change the time of the poll in anyway?
Also you might want to check your server time to see if it is in the GMT zone or your local timezone?
Did your host touch some date/time config on the server? Because if it has been working before. It is definitely not a compatibility issue with WordPress

This might have nothing to do with the plugin, it might be your theme or style issue or the way wp-polls styling fit to your theme.

It doesn’t matter, I am still using WP-Polls with WP 3.6.1 and it works fine.

Lester, thank you for your answer.

The first issue could be server related. I’ll ask the site host about this. A friend suggestes it might have something to do with daylight saving time as the difference is only an hour.

The second issue is annoying and is a let down where the professionality of the site is concerned. My sidebar is supposed to be a sidebar and not an bottom bar. Yes, I understand that it has to do with the theme but WP-Polls is the ONLY plugin that gives this problem. And I do use a fair amount of plugins.

I’ll try to get help from the theme designers but I fear that as usual it’s up to me to solve these issues. I’ll put the status of this item on resolved.

Almost everything in the poll’s style can be customized, what is your site URL? I can take a quick look
