Plugin peer review process?

Is there any process in place whereby plugin code can be assessed by different developers? Some sort of peer ranking system, perhaps? Or just some accepted place to put “I’ve tested this plugin, using these methods, and come to these conclusions”?

It seems that a formal quality assurance process could be a good thing; I’m sure others have had similar ideas (including that this is a daft idea!) so I just thought I’d ask….

Any comments?
