[Plugin: Petfinder Listings] Lists of options

The shortcode attribute descriptions are on the Description page of my plugin: https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/petfinder-listings/ (below Demos). You don’t need to use all of them – use only the attributes you need to filter results by.

The breed attribute will only work if you have a Poodle in your shelter/rescue listed with Petfinder and marked as that primary breed. Poodle might need to be capitalized. If you have access to your petfinder admin, the list of breeds is available when you are adding/editing a pet.

So far I haven’t added the ability to list pets from shelters within a state. All my calls require a shelter id. I haven’t done this because I work with rescues who are interested in listing only their own pets. Someone else asked about this feature and I might consider adding it later.

Hi Bridget,

I was hoping more for a list of attributes i.e. dog breeds. The api states call breeds.list for a list of valid breeds, but I am not experienced enough to create this yet. I see the animal attributes are barnyard, bird, cat, dog, horse, pig, reptile, smallfurry, so that is helpful.

I used both the small and large default short code used as an example, but only the small short code [shelter_list] worked for some reason. If I wanted to list a breed per state, i.e. poodles, like this site example did for Italian Greyhounds: https://www.midwestigrescue.com/adoption/available-igs-in-missouri-and-kansas/ how would I do this?

I am not affiliated with a shelter, which is probably why I am not familiar with shelter ids. ?? I have a breed site and would like to make a page for each state pointing visitors to applicable shelters within the state.

I am going through your code now; I just feel out of my league. I need to start somewhere though, just lost atm. I have never created something this large before. Just small school projects. Falling forward I guess. ??

Well, the plugin isn’t set up for your situation. The plugin requires a petfinder shelter ID and only returns animals in that shelter. The Missouri and Kansas page on Midwest IG rescue is using the shelter ID for the Missouri and Kansas IG rescue. If there is another rescue in Missouri that has IGs, they will not be displayed on their page.

You can get the shelter ID for any shelter/rescue on Petfinder. When looking at the shelter’s petfinder page, the shelter ID is in the URL and looks something like state abbreviation # like WI185.
