If you want to use the statistics feature and the “WP Permalinks” option (which is recommended) then you need to activate a non-default Permalink scheme.
You can do this on the Permalink settings page of your blog (see https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Settings_Permalinks_Screen).
Choose link scheme other than “Default”. Maybe take “Day and name”.

    Hi Tim,

Alrgiht. But only to be sure that this settings is working correctly: please take a look into the .htaccess file in the root folder of your blog.

Does this file exists? (This file is eventually a hidden file. In some FTP program you need to activate a special option to make such files visible.)

Does it contain more or other lines than the ones in this example: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Using_Permalinks#Creating_and_editing_.28.htaccess.29 ?

Do you use any security plugin in your blog? Which ones?

What happens if you activate the statistics feature as before and click on the download link of one episode? Are you able to download the file? Does the browser show an error message?

Would you tell me the name of your blog? Maybe I see something which I have not thought about before.

It is a custom error, it is an error 404 “page not found”

Thank you for posting the error message!

But so far I have no good what could cause the problem. The most common reasons for that problem are some difficulties with the Permalink scheme or the .htaccess file.
However there were a few report of situations in which other plugins made trouble. That is why we should find out whether one of your other plugins interferes somehow. When which plugin, I can try to find out what is wrong and how to fix it.
In my opinion the best way to find out is that you activate the statistics feature temporarily again and then deactivate the other plugins one by one, reload the page and try to download one file. You may of course activate the other plugins afterwards.

OK! I’ll try and then i will report here.

    thanks

    Hi,
I am experiencing a similar issue to Fozter, however I get the “file not found” error on the player and the 404 error on download with statistics turned on OR off.
Did you end up finding a solution to this issue? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers.
