After upgrading to your latest version of pretty link lite I can no longer view my website or even log in at all. I just receive the following warnings:
Warning: require_once(/home/shane/public_html/wp-content/plugins/pretty-link/classes/helpers/PrliAppHelper.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/shane/public_html/wp-content/plugins/pretty-link/classes/models/models.inc.php on line 26

    Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘/home/shane/public_html/wp-content/plugins/pretty-link/classes/helpers/PrliAppHelper.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/shane/public_html/wp-content/plugins/pretty-link/classes/models/models.inc.php on line 26

Please advise me how to restore access to my site so that I can remove this plug in. I have an FTP link and can remove files if you let me know which ones. Thank you.

  • On our site, we just fell back to the last stable version (1.5.6). The following worked on our site…

Simply remove the pretty-link plugin folder from your wp-content/plugins directory, then upload the legacy version (1.5.6 – unzip the files, then upload the pretty-link folder). Depending on whether your blog is accessed during this process, you may need to re-activate the plugin from your Admin Panel.

    I hope this helps!

Edit: Sorry, forgot a URL to the previous versions page. Previous versions can be found at https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/pretty-link/download/.

Thank you for your help. I deleted the directory and now it works fine. I guess that I was just very surprised that just one bug in one plug in brought my whole site down and prevented any access to my dashboard ….
…. I will not being using it again and will remove even the old versions from all my other sites!

my whole site came down as well
I trashed the update and re uploaded 1.5.6 and now it works fine

    To OP
Brought my site down too, but something to note is that there are MANY plugins available that, if they fail, will bring your whole site down… not just PrettyLink. It’s rare, but it happens.

That’s why I always backup the database (I use EZPZ) before updating plugins ??

After re-uploading the 1.5.6, did you have to recreate your pretty links?

Ok, I just followed zimmi88’s instructions above and it worked fine. Delete version 1.5.7 using FTP and then re-upload version 1.5.6 and everything will return to normal. You WILL NOT have to recreate your pretty links.

Some of the files required for 1.5.7 were somehow not included in the 1.5.7 zip file.

We’ve just now released 1.5.8 which fixes this problem.

Please upgrade and this issue should be resolved.

    Thanks,

    Blair

    this is horrendous!

i upgraded to v 1.5.8 and my site has totally
disappeared to be replaced by the following…

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 7 bytes) in /home/my-domain/public_html/wp-content/themes/thesis_183/lib/classes/css.php on line 206

    and

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 491520 bytes) in /home/my-domain/public_html/wp-content/themes/thesis_183/lib/classes/css.php on line 300

    i’ve deleted the v 1.5.8 folder to no avail…

i initially upgraded to v 1.5.7 last week which also
brought my site down but deleting it fixed the
    problem.

deleting v 1.5.8 has not made any difference, my
site has disappeared… any ideas please, anyone??

Your site is using more memory than your webhost has allocated for it to use. You need to contact your webhost and get them to increase it to at least 64MB — then you should be able to access your wp-admin again.

    Hope that helps,

    Blair

    thanks blair… however, this only
    happened after i attempted to
    upgrade from v 1.5.6 to v 1.5.8

why might this be pray tell?

I don’t know. Memory allocation issues are difficult to debug in WordPress because there are so many different hosting setups and plugin environments that can be installed. I can say this though — if PL were the sole cause it should have been remedied by deleting the plugin folder — now that you’ve done that your site is no longer executing any Pretty Link code and you’re still having the issue.

We’ve had a few issues reported in 1.5.8 that we’re working on fixes for but nothing as serious as this.

As I said, I’ve found that when an error like this occurs its better to increase the memory allocation limit in php (even if its temporary) to get your site back up then you can have a better chance at figuring out what happened.

thanks again blair… increasing the memory
allocation did bring my site back to life as
advised by my webhosts support team and
    yourself.

i’m quite wary of attempting to upgrade to
    v 1.5.8 again though… too much excitement
    for one evening!

Haha, I can’t blame you there (even though you’d very likely be fine this time now that your memory limit has been raised). I’d work on figuring out what actually happened on your site before changing things around too much ‘lest something like that happen again. ??

Glad you were able to get the site back up though.

    Blair

happy to report that i’ve now upgraded to
v 1.5.8 without any problems whatsoever.

    cheers blair!

Hi…is pretty link lite still available. It’s not there when I go to the download page at https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/pretty-link/download/.

    Thanks.

    Dean.
