[Plugin: Provide Live Help] Plugin is not free, has 30-day trial

While having a free plugin in the repository to support a third-party service (even a pay one) is not actually against the rules here, a closer examination of this plugin in particular shows that it is really nothing more than advertising.

The actual widget that it adds is no better than a normal Text Widget, using HTML code you have to copy and paste from their website.

Accordingly, this plugin has been disabled. If the plugin actually *did* anything of substance, then I’d leave it be. However, it does not.

Hello, I have published this extension to help less skilled WordPress users add Live Chat button to their blogs. Indeed it doesn’t do anything more than a box where a HTML/JavaScript snippet can be pasted (and aligned as needed), but this is exactly what it takes to complete “installation” of Live Chat button.

@agentok – description of our extension doesn’t mention anywhere it is “free”, so calling us “ANOTHER PAY SCAM PLUGIN” is a bit rude.

I would suggest typing “live chat” into Search box on Extension pages. The result will list a lot of “paid” plugins, which offer very similar functionality to ours.

Alan: You can achieve the same results with a Text widget, which also accepts HTML code.

If you want to make your plugin unique, then perhaps having it generate the HTML code based on account information or something even simpler to that effect would be acceptable. For example, you could have it go retrieve the necessary code directly, or you could have the user put in their account number (or whatever) instead of copy and pasting HTML.

Also, you need to state in the description of the plugin that it requires a subscription service. This is to avoid misleading users into downloading it only to discover that it is a for-pay service.

Like I said, we accept GPL plugins, even for pay-services. However, we don’t want our users to be misled about what the plugins do.

If you make the change to the description, I’ll re-enable it. However, I would also encourage you to improve the plugin and make it unique and easier to use. This is not a requirement, just a suggestion.

They have updated the readme to state that the plugin only offers a 30 day trial period, and requires a subscription afterwards. Therefore, the plugin has been re-instated.
