• The new version of psnGallery (integration of Coppermine in WP) is out.
View it in action at blog.idahocline.com
Now in every post, you have access to Coppermine…Album, Pictures via simple tags as “<gallery>”, “<cpg_album>”, “<cpg_thumb>”, “<cpg_gallery>”

  • Hi idahocline,
No worries, thanks for checking up on this thread. Much appreciated and being busy is a good thing : )
So, sorry if you’ve answered this before, but is it possible to post a specific image from cm to your wp blog? I can’t find a way to do that. The view it function, (which is supposed to display all the thumbs for an album in some ‘second part of the window’?), does nothing at all for me in the admin section.
I did realize finally where to put the php files. I’m just suggesting a little reorganization of parts of your installation instructions to make it clearer, that’s all. I missed that part until reading it for the third time. I can contribute to the plugin and put together a clearer document for you if you’d like, or I can point out to you exactly what part is confusing to me. Perhaps it’s the language barrier? (I’m american). If I knew anything about php, I’d contribute there..
Look forward to the “last uploaded from date until date” tag. Sounds like it may be just what I’m looking for.

kevin: you are welcome ! drop me a line at admin at idahocline dot info for what you need for the instructions… Normally this week end I will have few hours so I will try to work on your request (“from date until date” for update, best viewed, etc…).

    thanks! check your inbox.

    ;o)

I have had great luck with psnGallery2 so far. Pretty straight forward overall. My next big wish is to setup an easy way to post my images and albums directly to wordpress. I’m looking for a button to be added under my album, and above any picture that would basically send a command to xmlrpc.xml and generate a post in my blog for the photo. I was wondering if anyone had played around with anything like this so far.
I understand the scope of psnGallery2, and I understand this has nothing to do with psnGallery2 perse. It’s just that you guys would probably be the best people to ask first.
I don’t see this being a priority in the coppermine group since they seem to be more into bbs type work. Something like this would give us almost seemless integration of the two products. If there is nothing out there, I’ll probably get started on a hack myself. This should be relatively simple to pull off.

HOLY CRAP IT WORKED! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!!
    psnGallery2 kicks major butt!
Now – how do you guys (like @ccheaton) make your wp site and coppermine site (skin) look identical?
I have a few pieces of constructive criticism:
    1. make the readme file .html with some formatting because it’s a little difficult to read (I know it’s much easier to cut and paste the SQL statement when it’s in plain text, however)
    2. make a .php page for setup instead of mucking around in phpMyAdmin (although it’s really easy)
    3. more clear instructions
    4. the author’s website doesn’t render very well in FireFox 1.p preview
I found it not hard to install but after I acutally got the install done, I realized better instructions and a few things would make it totally idiotproof (which is why people use WP in the first place).
Thanks and keep up the great work!

Thanks for the criticisms ! I like that kind of feedback ! I am working on several other projects for the moment. But as soon as I have time again, my “one-click” install script is on the top priority todo list !

I have another constructive criticism while we’re discussing them:
I copied the files, made the modifications to my database. When I clicked the psnGallery2 “tab” at the top while in admin mode it gave me a cryptic error (something about the foreach enumeration) that I couldn’t figure out.
I double-checked everything I did only to realize much later that I FORGOT TO ACTIVATE the plugin!! ??
Is there something you can put in the script that checks to see if the plugin is activated and if it isn’t then to tell you to activate it? I followed the instructions exactly over and over to figure out what I was doing wrong but nowhere does it tell you to actually activate the plugin (even though I should have known to).
    Keep up the good work!

Hey. I futzed with the coppermine template to make it match my site. It’s not difficult, and if you have some skills with html you’ll get it done in no time. However, I have since changed the look of my site and it no longer matches my blog. Too lazy and not enough time to change it.

    Hi,
After investiagting the available options for adding gallery functionality to WordPress, I opted for Coppermine/psnGallery. All works fine, but on the psnGallery page in the admin area, the alum list does not show up (the headers of the table are displayed however!) This is a bit of a nuisance as it makes it notoriously hard to find the correct album number. Does anyone experience the same problem, and can it be/how can it be solved?
    Regard,
    Sophist

Hi! I am having some problems with psngallery. sometimes it works perfectly and it displays the pics fine, and sometimes I get this Warning: mysql_fetch_array(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /www/htdocs/v109938/blog/index.php on line 195
whats wrong? how can I fix this???
    thanks so much in advance

    What’s the line 195 in your index.php ?

I found out that add_magic_quotes is a function that also exists in admin.php, so I get an error executing psnCPGadmin.php

I noticed that if an album in Coppermine has no category assigned (cid=0) then psnGallery doesn’t show the album.

    (@sophist)

At the moment I have only albums with cid=1, “user gallery”, a special category for user’s own galleries. I’ll give changing the category to a dummy one a try to see if it shows up.
For the plugin coder: maybe it’s worth sorting this little issue out (I’m sure it’s something quite trivial) so that the plugin would be even more useful.
