Has anyone else had success with this extra plugin?

    Hi there,

It depends on the post type they are working with. Authors can publish posts, but not pages. Which one is your author trying to do?

    Your plugin description says

Allows anyone with publish permissions to clear the cache in Quick Cache.

But after activating this plugin, Authors cannot see the Clear Cache button in the header like Admins.

Where are you in WordPress when you are not seeing the button? I just tested on a clean install of WordPress as an author and it showed up for me on the dashboard and on an individual post on the front-end of my site. It will not show up on pages or any other post type by default for authors, since they do not have publish permissions for anything other than posts.

Where can you send a PM in this forum? I can have you login with a test author ID. There is no Clear Cache button in the right header, or anywhere.

After digging into the problem, my code is only working for WordPress Multisite at the moment. I’ve put in a request on the forums for Quick Cache to add a new hook in the code to fix this problem. Here is the support thread: https://www.s2member.com/forums/topic/quick-cache-needing-a-new-hook/.

As soon as I hear back from the author of Quick Cache, you can expect a new version of this plugin.

I guess maybe we should fork the project since it doesn’t appear that the developer is going to update it?

I’m sure if you would take over this and the Quick Cache plugin you’d get lots of donations. w3tc and wpsupercache are too invasive, too difficult to completely delete, and for many they actually make the site slower. I returned to Quick Cache tonight after a long time with w3tc. But it looks from the Quick Cache support forum that the visitors are attempting to solved the issues on their own, which is a double-edged sword. I’ll check back to see if you decide to do this …

Sorry, but I’m not looking to take on a caching plugin. As for donations, I’d be very surprised to receive one…never have received a single donation.

If you really want to get this working, follow my instructions from the support thread: https://www.s2member.com/forums/topic/quick-cache-needing-a-new-hook/
