[Plugin: Quick Chat] Private chat

  • First, thank you for this great plugin.

    I have a feature request about having the possibility to create a more private chat.

    One example would be when you want to supply Live Support or something similar where all logged in users should be able to write but only the support staff person should see what’s been written. The support staff should also be able to answer every persons questions separately so only the affected person can see the answers.

    It would be nice to use the short code for this. Example:
    [quick-chat Username]

    Where Username is the administrator for that particular chat. This way you can put different staff members in control of different sections of the website on different topics or whatever.

    A similar feature could also be used to create a private chat between two wordpress members. Where a chat is placed on the members profile page and when someone writes in that chat the effect will be the same as described above.

    To make the new multi chat easier to administrate perhaps a new tab could appear whenever a new person writes. This way you can easily jump beetween chatting among different persons. Having the tabs vertically on the side would allow alot of tabs at the same time without to much clutter.

    Hi. Thanks for your suggestions. Your private chat suggestion is perfect candidate for the next major version but I would hate to over complicate this chat with “big” features. I’ll had to choose between this and tweaking login system to allow facebook and things like that that some users suggested. I might create poll on the techytalk.info so you user could pick what is more important to you. Must think it all over, thanks again. ??

    Thanks for your reply. I understand that a feature like this might make your nice slim chat a bit too complicated, like you said. Anyways I wouldn’t expect you to implement this in the near future. This was just a suggestion far down the road if you had some extra time on your hands ??
