[Plugin: Recent Posts Plus] won't only show 3 posts

I notice that the plugin seems to be ignoring the “Number of Posts to Show” box.
I don’t know when this arose as we have only recently decided to shorten the list of recent posts shown.
I am using this on a page, using “Widgets on Pages” (so it is within the page, not on the sidebar), here:
