[Plugin: Related Posts Slider] still not working

New version 2.0 released and is working fine with latest version of YARPP and WordPress 3.3.1

I have tried to get the Relate Posts SLider working on my site. I have Yarpp running, have downloaded the Related Posts Slider, but nothing happens.

You can see the yarpp working on my site https://www.puravidaguide.com.

I am using Thesis framework – is there something I need to add to my custom functions file to get the slider working?

Thanks for pointing that out. It’s very strange though, as you have pointed out the slider is working on that page, but not on other posts?

For example

https://puravidaguide.com/costa-rica/di-bartolo-italian-restaurant/

You can see that Yarpp is pulling in related posts below, however the related posts slider is not showing.

On another note, the page you pointed out seems to be doubling up on my ‘realted posts’ – adding additional Yarpp posts below the slider? any thoughts on what I have done wrong?

There is a Settings on YARPP settings page ‘Automatically display related posts?’ You need to unchck this box to avoid YARPP showing the output. This should help.

Very few related posts are appearing on your posts – this could be because YARPP has some strict criteria to pull the related posts (based on score). Let em know if on ‘Edit Post’ at the bottom ‘YARPP metabox’ is having related posts but the Slider is not displaying them.

Also you can try using https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/wordpress-23-related-posts-plugin/ instead of YARPP if you need more related posts (it uses tags to pull related posts).

Thanks for you message. I have figured out that if I uncheck the Automatically display related posts, then the doubling up of Yarpp posts gets removed.

I have left the Automatically display related posts checked for now, to show that certain posts DO have related posts (showing up in Yarpp) but do not display the RPS slider.

FOr example from posts that are all labelled in the same category..

All these posts are build the same way, and associated with the same categories, so I am stumped as to why the slider shows on some and not other.

Hi,

Just to let everyone know I resolved the issue.

NOTE: If you are using Thesis, the slider will only be displayed for a post if you have entered something into the ‘Custom Title Tag’ section and the ‘Meta Description’ section. If these fields are left blank, then the related post slider will not appear on those posts.

One more issue that I can not seem to resolve,

What CSS do I nee to center the entire Related Post Slider. Also how can I adjust the total width of the slider?

I would like to center the slider, or make it fit width wise within the content area, but I can not figure out what CSS command to use in Thesis.

Thanks for posting your fix. I had the same problem until I realized I was basing the relationship on tags and had some posts without tags! Too simple really.
