    Hi,

The Relevanssi plugin no longer indexes any posts or pages on my site since upgrading to the newest version of WordPress and/or the Relevanssi plugin.

I have tried deactivating/reactivating the plugin several times, clearing the database tables, reverting to older versions of the plugin but still will not index any posts.

It may be worth noting that I have a multisite install, but that the Relevanssi plugin is only installed on one of the sub-sites/blogs and not sitewide/network activated. And it was previously working fine.

    Any ideas?

Try a clean install, and make sure with phpMyAdmin or similar tool that all Relevanssi database tables are really gone from the database.

Hi, thanks for that. I have cleared the database of all relevanssi tables and references and reinstalled the plugin.

The good news is that it now works fine on one of my sub-sites/blogs, (only has 5 posts and was created only a month ago), but not the one that had stopped indexing, (has 1982 posts and was created over a year ago).

    Any other ideas?

Just upgraded, and we are also unable to get search results due to no indexing taking place. Will completely remove (also from the database) and reinstall and report back… but this seems a bit buggy.

Update: Yup, we completely removed the plugin and re-installed and now it is again indexing and serving up search results.

Deactivating the plugin and reactivating it should’ve been enough. It’s a well-known bug that the upgrade process doesn’t upgrade the Relevanssi database.

Then again, I’m not even sure running multiple instances of Relevanssi in a multisite setting is possible. You might need Relevanssi Premium for that, as the free version of Relevanssi has exactly zero multisite support.

    Thanks for the reply.

I have another multisite install which has over 30 sites/blogs, and they all use the Relevanssi plugin. Upon the plugin update I have just had to deactivate, reactivate and re-index each of them individually and they all re-indexed successfully.

I’m guessing that there must be something specific to the site/blog I’m having difficulty with? Apart from wp_options, wp_relevanssi, wp_relevanssi_cache, wp_relevanssi_excerpt_cache, wp_relevanssi_log and wp_relevanssi_stopwords, are there any other tables that would make/have reference to Relevanssi?

Regarding the multisite version of the plugin; I was under the impression that the multisite version was for searching across all of the sites/blogs, rather than individually?

The multisite version is for network installs and can be used to search across all blogs, but it also manages different databases for each blog and so on. If the single site version works, then fine – I’m by no means an expert on anything related to multisite. If installing the plugin on each individual site works and keeps separate database tables for each installation, I don’t think there’s going to be any problems.

Anyway, the critical table for indexing is wp_relevanssi – if the table structure is wrong (as it might be after an upgrade), Relevanssi won’t be able to index anything.

Updated plugin. Only SOME posts and pages are indexed; about half. I ran ‘build index’ and still only half were indexed.

i deleted and re-installed latest version of plug-in and built index. Same result: not all pages and posts were indexed – only about half.

    Any suggestions?

oops – my bad. It’s working now. Re-installing did it.
