• We have a site where we create a page for the subscriber, then assign that subscriber as that pages editor (along with admin). Our server (Site5) crashed (again) and when they restored the site back to 6 days ago RS stopped working correcting.

Now I’ll admit there are way too many complicated option in the back but he’s what we’ve done so far:

    We disabled all plugins.
We deleted RS then FTP’d in and put a new one in there, then activated it.
We triple checked all our permissions in the Plugins folder.

Still, When I select a user to be the page editor and click update, the checkbox is blank again and the user can’t see the editable page in their dashboard.

Is it a memory issue? Server setting? Permissions?

Also, when I go to Users, the only role available is the original Subscriber role in the drop down. Under that is says “No role for this site”.

You can start by looking for any corresponding messages in your php error log.

    Regarding role selection:

    1. temporarily disable Role Scoper and visit the Users page again to make sure the other roles still exist in the database
    2. If so, you may have customized your Administrator capability definitions in a problematic way. Make sure the Administrator role has whatever capabilities are displayed in Roles > Options > Advanced > Administrator Definition > User Administrator
    3. If the role selection mystery is still not solved, you can disable Roles > Options > Advanced > User Management > Limit User Edit by Level

    Thanks for responding.

    1. Once disabled the user roles exist.
    2. Did this the best I can understand (way too many options that I don’t understand). No change.
    3. Disabled, no change.
    4. Disabled all plugins except RS and still no change.

Any other suggestions? I’d be happy to let you in.

Also, when I go to Users, the only role available is the original Subscriber role in the drop down. Under that is says “No role for this site”.

    This suggests that:

    1. You have Role Scoper’s “Limit User Edit by Level” option enabled
    2. Your Administrator role had its level setting removed

You can check that with Capability Manager Enhanced. Go to Users > Role Capabilities. The Administrator role should be set to level 10.

It’s possible that the inability to save those role settings is also due to the Administrator role not having the normal page editing capabilities. But you should also check your php error log for an out of memory error. If that’s the case, you’ll need to increase your limit or deactivate unnecessary plugins.
