[Plugin: Rolemanager] Allow unregistered user to post
-
First I apologize as this is a duplicate to a post in the How-to forum. I got a note saying it would better be here.
RoleManager version 02.02.03 (131587)
I have everything working tick-tock except for treatment of anonymous / unregistered users.
I want unregistered users to be able to post — they go through Recaptcha, while registered users get to avoid recaptcha and are allowed a few other privileges.
To achieve this I gave the 0 Role the capability to publish posts, edit posts and Read.
I created a link on the sidebar https://…/wp-admin/post-new.php
Unregistered users who try to use this to add a new post are immediately redirected to the login page.
In WP itself, I have Anyone Can Register, Default Role is Registered, leaving Subscriber alone and although it shouldn’t matter, I disbled “Users must be registered and logged in to comment.” It shouldn’t matter because I don’t allow Comments, instead directing discussion to Simple Press Forum.
What’s irritating is that an unregistered user can post to the forums without difficulty and having the proper restrictions enforced. But they cannot make a “real” post to the blog.
Anyone see what I’ve misconfigured here or have a thought about what might be the hitch? any help gratefully appreciated.
