Every month I add a new post with a gallery of book images that link to their library catalog records. Every time I add a new post with this kind of gallery, I’d like to also be able to add those gallery images to a comprehensive gallery on another page. I know how to add more than one gallery to a page, but I’m wondering if there’s anyway to have the images in those multiple galleries become combined so that they can be ordered alphabetically by title? In this way, I’d like to be able to maintain a page with all the linked book covers in one place, as each new gallery is uploaded. (I’d also like to be able to remove older ones once they are no longer valid.)

This may not be a current feature of the plugin, but perhaps it might be possible in an update? For example, if the shortcode could work like this: [gallery id=4644,4212 order="ASC" size="medium" columns="3" orderby="title"] where the multiple gallery ids would result in the contents of those galleries being combined into one ordered list.

Any suggestions on how I could accomplish what I’m trying to do? Here’s a link to an example of how I’m using the plugin: https://www.thomasmemoriallibrary.org/2012/09/15/twenty-four-titles-added/

    Thanks!

You are correct that this is not a current feature of RPS Image Gallery though it sounds like a worthwhile addition to the plugin. We have added it as a feature request for the next release. Thank you for taking the time to write and providing such a thorough description.

We are pleased to announce that RPS Image Gallery version 1.2.9 (released today) has the functionality you requested. Please let us know how it works for you or if there are any questions or issues. We would be interested in your appraisal of the instructions for implementing the new feature. Thanks in advance for your time.

You guys are terrific! Thanks so much for letting me know about this update. I will have more time to devote to our website next week, and I will play around with the multiple gallery options then. I will be very happy to provide you with feedback. Thank you so much!

You had asked me to take a look a your instructions for combing galleries, and I have finally had time to take a look and also to format my page with the combined galleries (which is here: https://www.thomasmemoriallibrary.org/forthcoming-titles/)

I was puzzled at first by the directions, because it didn’t seem to indicate that you could combine multiple galleries and have them flow together, but I experimented and found that it did indeed work. I would suggest including something like the following in your instructions under the FAQ How do I add multiple galleries to the same page? after the first set of instructions.

“To combine the images from multiple galleries on the same page, use commas to separate the post/page IDs, and use standard WordPress gallery shortcodes to format their appearance. For example:

    [gallery id=134, 135, 136 orderby="title" size="medium"]“

At least, this is what I did, and it works beautifully! I hope this is helpful. Thank you again for your terrific plugin!

We have modified the instructions so hopefully it is clearer. Thanks for the input.

Much clearer. Great job! I really love the way it works–it saves me so much time, and the results are so much better than anything I was able to do before!
