Hi there, Thanks for the feedback. Sorry to say that it’s in the name of the button (albeit subtle) there :)… Ex(cluding) PW (password).

If the password is available it will say Inc PW instead. The difference is that if a user signs up to your site after this version of my plugin was there is will store the password. If the user is pre-existing then we won’t have the password in plaintext stored and therefore we can’t resend it. Also if a user updates their password on their profile it will save it.

Give it a try by logging in as an existing user who doesn’t have the password saved then save their password on the profile.

Should be fine. Thanks for using my plugin though. Please do rate it if you get a second.

    thanks
    Sean

    Hi Sean,

So for the User Email Body and Admin Email Body, in order to receive the password for new members, we would use [plaintext_password]?

I’ve changed it now, but I think the default before was [user_password].

Is there a way to add code for users prior to installing this plugin to reset their password? Otherwise, I would have to figure out who was before or after installing the plugin.

You recommended using SMTP, however I don’t see anywhere to set that up on the plugin config page. Can you please advise.

    Thanks so much!

    Hi wpsecuritylock,

Thanks for the query…. The plaintext_password shortcode is something you can use but user_password does exactly the same job. My own fault for documenting both methods in the past before standardising. All fully backwards compatible..

The only way you can work out who was a member before you installing the plugin is really by the users page on the site. Those that it can send an email to will say ‘Inc PW’ next to it and those that it can’t will saw ‘Ex PW’ or something similar.

I have yet to add any form of SMTP support however I have used it in conjunction with this plugin and it works very nicely indeed.

By all means let me know if I can be of any more help.

    thanks
    Sean
