[Plugin: Sidebar Login] Cache in browser doesn't clear after logging out

  • Hi Mike.

    After updating to 3.3, I am getting an unusual problem. When I log in to the site, everything updates as expected. New pages that I have not recently visited show me as logged in.

    But if I log out, the page still shows me as logged in, and the admin bar still displays at the top of the page. (Interestingly, it works properly in the homepage of my site where I call the plugin up within shortcode exec php, but not in the other pages where it is called up with the php commmand in the sidebar file.)

    If I clear the cache in my browser, the pages do revert back to the visitor display (no admin bar and the login form).

    Not sure if this is a 3.3 issue or a sidebar login issue, as I only have your plugin in use for logging in.

    Have you seen this before, or is it unique to me?

  • I believe I am getting the same issue at my site https://www.sonarfish.com. It is confusing to users and if someone could chyme in for a fix, I’d greatly appreciate it since I really do like this login plugin.

    Just checking one last time to see if this is something that is an isolated problem on my end (i.e. meaning it won’t make the ‘fix list’) or if it is going to be addressed. If it isn’t something that will get fixed, please let me know, and I’ll look for a different option.

    By the way–I’ve loved this plugin. I really hope I can keep using it. Thanks for all the work that goes into maintaining it.

    I was experiencing a similar problem. The problem also occurs to me when I use the built-in “Meta” widget, so it is not related to this plugin. It went away when I checked this setting in my caching plugin:

    W3 Total Cache / Page Cache / General:
    [X] Don’t cache pages for logged in users

    Not an ideal situation, since many of my users will be logged in, but it’s better than the website not working right.
