[Plugin: Simple Facebook Connect] Buddypress Integration

Otto, this thread on the buddypress site describes the approach I took to try to allow account linking from a buddypress profile (synced with wp user account):

It didn’t come out quite right … buttons showed up but didn’t seem to be able to tell if I was connected or not. Is there another route?

I know zero about BuddyPress, so I don’t know what would be required to integrate it.

In terms of registration and logging in, there’s really not much substantial difference between bp and wp. The question is really about how to place a link/unlink and/or login button anywhere on a template.

In digging through your code, I found the following.
add_action('profile_personal_options','sfc_login_profile_page')
I replaced the wp profile location with the corresponding bp profile location and did in fact get a button, just not with the functionality I had hoped. My question then is simply, am I using the best function for the job or is there another way?

(I did see your shortcode function but couldn’t get that to work just yet.)

Hello Otto, I just installed the SFC plugin and activated it. I put in the required FB application API, ID and Secret code. Now I don’t know what to do again.
DO I need to put in the sample code from FB somewhere else? and where’s is this?
I just want to activated facebook login to my wordpress blog.
Please help me

@managera: Activate the SFC-Login plugin.

If you have both the SFC-Login and SFC-Widget Connect plugin installed you can add the shortcode <?php echo sfc_connect_shortcode(); ?> into your sidebar login panel. Make sure you put this in your child theme and not the BP-Core files.

With this code snippit I was able to log in to WordPress/Buddypress. Im gonna check the functionality now.

My bad, it only seems to work if you already connected Facebook to your Buddypress account. The SFC doesnt work like default WP yet.

I’m trying to integrate my company blog with my company Facebook. I am the Facebook admin. How can I find the required FB application API, ID and Secret code to activate the plugin?

If this has been posted somewhere else, I’m sorry, One thing I have discovered about this plugin is that, when you log out of wordpress, it logs you out of Facebook. Os tjere anything I can do about this, and if so, what?

No. That’s intentional and per Facebook’s guidelines on integrating logins.

I can get Justin’s WP-FB-connect working on Buddy Press. Much rather use SFC, but there’s little I can do. Nothing works at all with SFC – not likes, not login, nada, same app integration point.

Wishing Otto would make SFC work with Buddy Press (and buddy press privacy) there’d be a contender for local social – a big deal in small communities.

BuddyPress does too much of its own weirdness for me to understand it well without a lot more examination.

I’m willing to accept patches.

I have a little problem…I have set Share Button for manually add on themes. I do put
<? sfc_share_button(); ?>
on the thems…but the share button doesn’t showed up. Can you hel pme with this?Thank you.

please good sir, can you do this? This is a much-awaited feature and I’d hate to spend $30 on that other plugin WP-FB connect just for buddypress integration, your plugin i think does more of a good integration with facebook but its only this part without buddypress that needs to be updated

I don’t suppose there has been any progress with this from anyone?
I have a Buddypress install that crying out for SFC and STC.
