• I am using your latest 2.5 compatible version. On one of my blogs, it causes the display of any post to slow up considerably compared to the prior version, which was just fine.

Also, I’m not sure about your Auto Tags feature, since it doesn’t seem to do that.

    Can you explain?

    Peace,
    Gene

I wanted to add one more thing. By this afternoon (Monday, Mountain Standard), it got so slow that my site was almost impossible to access. I disabled your plugin and things turned to normal.

    Peace,
    Gene

    I noticed the same thing..

What bothers me is that most of the time I post something about a problem in these forums, there is no response. I’ve messages going back several months, still unanswered. ??

    Gene

Maybe try to deactive “Auto-link” feature ?

I profile (with Xdebug) my plugin today, and this feature degrade performance… but i’haven’t any alternative…

genesteinberg: Simple Tags 1.5.2 was released today (April 1), and purports to address performance issues.

I tried 1.5.2 and it made no difference, even with Auto-link deactivated.

Sorry. It’s a neat idea, but needs work.

    Peace,
    Gene

Yes, me too. It’s getting slower performance when I installing Simple Tags 1.5.2.

As of the 1.5.3 update, the problem still exists. ??

I am extremely concerned that the author seems to have made several changes of various sorts, but the core problem isn’t being touched at all. Right now this plugin, which has so much promise, remains unusable.

    Peace,
    Gene

Here’s something I don’t fathom. I’m using SimpleTags 1.5.3 (and WP 2.5), and when I perform some administrative actions, like activating or deactivating a plugin—tasks that perform a redirect on submit, I think —the redirect fails. I’m left with a completely blank page, no content, no source. In the case of activating/deactivating a plugin, the url of the page I get includes a nonce (e.g. https://example.com/wordpress/wp-admin/plugins.php?action=deactivate&plugin=no-www.php&_wpnonce=5f54e4f7c2) which normally I never see. If I’m updating a link via the Link Manager, it stalls on https://example.com/wordpress/wp-admin/link.php. This isn’t interaction with another plugin, as it happens when Simple Tags is the only running plugin.

So, something in Simple Tags appears to be breaking my administrative interface with 100% reproducibility. I’ve uninstalled it for the time being, but look forward to future updates.

    Stop crying!

Give me your PHP configurations, memory limit, MySQL version, etc.
Simple Tags work very well with a majority of people…

    Here ya go:

Database Data Disk Usage 10.2 MB
    Server Apache/2.2.8 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.8 OpenSSL/0.9.7a mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635
Database Index Disk Usage 1.7 MB
    PHP v5.2.5
MYSQL Maximum Packet Size 16 MB
    MYSQL v5.0.45-community
    MYSQL Maximum No. Connection 500
    GD bundled (2.0.34 compatible)

    PHP memory 64MB

I can adjust a few things, since it’s a dedicated server.

    Gene

One more thing: I can include more info on the PHP setup, but it’s a pretty standard configuration set up with WHM/cPanel.

    Peace,
    Gene

I wanted to download this plugin but after reading the threads, I’ll wait till all problems are worked out.

You better be, if you’re not willing to update on daily basis, as this plugin keep rolling a new version on each day. Since sun’ 1.5.3 is the 7th version that has been released.

More over, if you want Technorati tags & cloud, then better think, as upto version 1.5, the plugin is not able to display Technorati Tag & cloud, and more over reaching/getting reply from the author is not possible, as he never reponds.

I’ve made around 10 comments and 5 emails to the author about Technorati(xformat) issue since WordPress 2.3 release, but till date, I’ve not received, even a word.

plugin is not able to display Technorati Tag & cloud

Well, I have post tags, a tag cloud, technorati tags and related posts with this wonderful plugin in WP 2.3 and WP 2.5.
So I think YOU have a special problem with “Simple Tags”.
