  • In the past I was using ‘Twitter Tools’. It has kind of the same base as Twitter Connect as the both work with sub modules for different parts of functionality.

As the Simple Twitter Connect plugin is more designed based upon the use of the Twitter core functionality I would advice this plugin although there are still some features that could be added.

What would you like to compare? Which functionality would you like to use? For each of the functionality tons of plugins are available. When looking at e.g. Twitter @anywhere the plugin directory gives you 4 pages of result. Look at the download stats, last updated, etc. to make up your choice.

    thx.
still new at this twitter business, still reading up on all available features. the question was pretty general but thx for your hints.

will do some more research, then update this post.

    what I am looking for?

    so far:

    – ability for auto posting blog posts to twitter account
    – ability to import tweets to blog
    – create a daily/weekly aggregate of twitter posts
    – manually insert a re-tweet button where I chose to

If you would import of create a daily/weekly aggregate you can best use Twitter-Tools as Simple Twitter Connect does not has this functionality.

For the re-tweet button you can use Simple Twitter Connect or take a look at WP Tweet Button.

after reading up and comparing a lot of twitter tools I must say I’d love to go with STC but there are some features that only Twitter Tools seems to offer, maybe otto can give some feedback on their possible inclusion into his plugin?

    Features I’d like to have:

    – ability for auto posting blog posts to twitter account
    – ability to import tweets to blog
    – create a daily/weekly aggregate of twitter posts

Besides that here are some points I am not happy with when it comes to Twitter Tools, maybe they are some ideas for improvement too:

Will any of these plugins support custom post types?
I mean as in being able to save a tweet as a custom post type instead of as a regular post and tag it with a custom taxonomy instead of saving it into a certain category?

Also interested if any twitter plugin will tweet (send to twitter) a custom post type when saved or is it limited to good old posts?

STC does have auto posting blog posts to twitter account! It works beautifully.

The place to set this up is kind of hard to find. Go to “settings” and then to STC.

I would love to be able to import tweets into my blog as a custom post type. Any hope of that happening?

What about this plugin? Does anyone have experience?
