• Hello,

First, thanks for this great plugin. I am really looking forward to using it to its fullest potential.

I have a small problem. I have activated both plugins (Simple Facebook Connect & Simple Twitter Connect) and unable to login with either one on my website. When I hit the Connect with Facebook button, it doesn’t take me anywhere, i.e. it just refreshes the login page.

When I hit the Connect with Twitter button, it takes me to Twitter where I enter my login information, but when it comes back to the website it says – Twitter user not recognized.

Can you help me get both of these functions running?

Here is the link to my login page – https://www.emagine-group.com/wp-login.php

    Thanks!

  • I am having the same problem with the Twitter login and the Twitter user not recognized error.

I know I have the base plugin configured correctly, because I can comment using my Twitter button and it works perfectly.

I’m returning to self-hosted WP after a long time away. The changes are very new to me. I’m using 3.0.2, whereas the plugin states it is only tested to 3.0.1. As such, I feel that “wait for an update” would be a completely appropriate response ??

I’ve looked for info and will continue to look.

OK. I just found the answer on Otto’s blog. One must FIRST have an actual WP account, then go to the User page when logged into that account and connect it with one’s Twitter account.

This seems a little counterintuitive to me, but it absolutely works.

    Hi Chris,

Could you please post a link to the relevant page on Otto’s blog that talks about this issue? Tried looking for it but didn’t find it.
I am facing a problem using the login plugin.

    Thanks.

So, if I get this right, you must be a member of your WordPress blog, be logged in and then connect your account with Twitter?!
Why would someone want to do this and what are the benefits?
My first understanding was that you can login/register using this plugin, with your twitter account – I don’t see the point in connecting an already existent WordPress account with another Twitter account… is there some advantage I cannot see?

Advantage: Login with one click, no need to remember your password, enables other functionality like posting to Twitter from the edit post page, etc..

Twitter doesn’t give back a valid email address, so there’s no advantage to creating a user using Twitter credentials. It can’t auto-fill any valid information there.

Facebook, on the other hand, does provide useful info, which is why SFC has the SFC-Register plugin.

Maybe a future version will have STC-Register.
