[Plugin Simple:press] members not beig assigned groups

For some reason new members who sign up though my buddypress/Wordpress installation are not automatically being assigned to the members user group despite having the simplress settings set up to automate this process.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

I’m also having an issue where signals are unable to use capitals in their username which I can figure out either.
