[Plugin: Sociable] 4.1.8 Install breaks website

me either…would be nice if all plugin developers HAD on their website a verison numbered backup…so taht I could go back and re download 4.1.6 and re install it – as it did work…

unlike 4.1.7 and 4.1.8!!!

updating the plugin will results in unaccessibile site, even wp-admin pages!!!
I need to ftp in my server, rename plugin folder to force plugin de-activaction.
Now when I try to activate sociable I get this error

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘;’, expecting T_FUNCTION in /var/www/html/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/sociable/includes/class-sociable_Admin_Options.php on line 1342

Wish I had seen this sooner, now my site is down ??

the other possibility is to change php.ini switch
from short_open_tag = Off
to short_open_tag = On

which I would not recommend.
