• Hello,

the plugin suddenly stopped tracking search engine hits. Exactly the evening of the las day of January. As the site still is listed in Google (and I also wouldn’t know why not), the issue must be somewhere with the plugin, but I cannot figure where ??

    Please help.

I opened a new issue on github. this has been an issue for a while now and not getting any love. This is an exceptional plugin from some exceptionally talented programmers. TY!
    https://github.com/wp-statistics/wp-statistics/issues/235

I’m experiencing this issue as well. In Wordfence, I can see visitors coming to our site from Google but WP Statistics never shows any search engines as referring sites. Weird.

    Peace…

I had the same issue. Not giving up playing with my firewall an the settings of this plugin, I removed some bots from the robot-list under menu ‘exceptions’. “Et voilá” … search engine hits came back to my display in stats … The bots I removed are called googlebot, bingbot and so on. Just the search engines you need/have aktivated to display. Don’t forget to disable the update of this list.

    good luck!

@st3phan5 : Thanks for the information!!!! I just made some adjustments and I’ll see if I start seeing search engine stats.

    Thanks again!

still no search hits recorded. my ticket on github was closed with the comment below. I am also using WassUP and seeing the search hits

“Search Engine Referrals and Words are highly dependent on the search engines providing the information to us. Unfortunately, we can’t do anything about it; we report everything we receive.”

    Referrer: https://www.google.com/
    Hostname: 2600:1017:b126:a144:0:48:1638:101
SEARCH ENGINE: Google (page: 1)KEYWORDS: (not provided)
us OS: Android 6 BROWSER: Chrome 73 Mobile

I’m in the same boat as Ward Graham. I made the changes suggested by st3phan5 and no search hits are being recorded. ??

I see what is happening. the hit is being recorded as a visitor and not as referred from search. Also in the DB the referred column is being populated with the local site URL that I suspect is perhaps from a stale variable or other. the search table has zero entries. hope this helps

Wow, that’s great information! How did you figure that out? I’ll have to check my sites to see if I can see the same pattern.

    Thanks!

    Peace…
