Plugin tab says “There has been a critical error on this website. “

I don’t know when this started because I haven’t needed to change settings in a while. I tried clearing cache, using incognito window, log out/ log in and nothing helped.
Plugin tab has no configuration boxes. Instead there is a message on the plugins tab says:
“There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.”
Theme tab & all other tabs are operational.
The admin message says

Today updated the site to 5.7 and I added one plugin.
How do I clear the error in order to get plugin configuration back? The site is working a-ok.
