    Hi there, I’m having exactly the same problem, this thread is marked as resolved and I notice your website appears to be working correctly.

    What was the solution?

    Thanks

    Jon

    I’m also having the same problem, all I get is blue box with Google Map on it and clicking it just brings up another window with the same contents. My guess is Google is unable to resolve the map via the plugin. I’m doing a website refresh for a volunteer group and they have an event in London next month.

    I’ve filled the address as:
    Country: GB
    Address: 5 North Collonade
    City: London
    Province:
    Postal Code: E14 4BB

    I can put the postcode into maps.google.com and it finds the address correctly. I’m using WordPress 2.9.1 and the Mystique theme.

    Hi Folks,

    I’d guess this is related to an odd bug we are trying to nail right now. If you do not provide a state or province, google’s map breaks. No clue why. I’ll update this thread when we get back to it (working on some other issues at the moment) and figure it out. If someone figures it out first, let us know.

    Thanks for the update Shane. It does appear to be the province that is causing the problem for the UK at least. I’ve just done some experimenting and found that if I enter London as the province, it seems to work. I now get a Google map with a pin at the correct location.

    The address does now have London twice, but at least it works ??

    Will there be an option to manually position the pin in future releases? Postcodes in cities are fairly accurate, but I expect more rural locations might be a problem?

    One last thing, when I look at my event page now, it doesn’t have any background like other posts. Might be best if I can send you a screenshot as this will show the problem better than my description!

    If you can include a link, or if it is local – post a screen shot or link to a jing video, we can take a peek.

    It’s on a password protected are of the website so I can experiment in private. But I’ve just setup a jing account and these screenshots should demonstrate the issues:

    This is the post when not an event

    These are the entries for the event, with London as Province

    Here is the post as an event, note the lack of background

    Hope that helps, let me know if you need anything else.

    Thanks

    @ Nigel
    Your background isn’t showing because the event list, or the calendar, are not fitting nicely into your default page style. Don’t know what theme you’re running, but copy across all the event pages (gridview.php, single.php, and list.php) into a new folder under your theme called ‘events’ and modify them a little. For example, all I needed to do with my theme was add `<div id=”sub-column”>
    <div id=”sub-top”>
    <?php include(TEMPLATEPATH.”/scripts/breadcrumb.php”);?>
    </div>
    <div id=”sub-content”>
    <div class=”content”>
    between include (TEMPLATEPATH.’/header.php’); ?>
    and <div id=”tec-content” class=”upcoming”>
    at the top of each of those pages, and then replace<?php
    include (TEMPLATEPATH.’/footer.php’);with<?php
    include (TEMPLATEPATH.’/sidebar.php’); ?>

    <?php
    include (TEMPLATEPATH.’/footer.php’); ?>
    </div>` at the bottom, and all worked properly (as you can see at https://www.niftyfifty.org.uk/). Obviously you’ll need to change that around a little depending on your theme, but the theory works, honest!

    Like you I was only getting America for a valid UK postcode that happily brings up the correct location if entered on a Google Map UK page, but not in the plugin. Unlike you though, I can’t resolve it no matter WHAT I put in for the address entry – try Beningborough Hall in Yorkshire, postcode YO30 1DD, and see what happens :o(

    Thanks for the tips, I’m in no hurry at the moment, just trying out a new design with new widgets. Hopefully the team here will be able to address all the issues. I’m using the Mystique theme, one of the top downloads on the www.ads-software.com theme list.
