• This seems to be either a bug or a conflict, but I am finding that on a site that has TEC the start & end times only show when the event is marked as an “all day event” which is precisely when they should not show. Then if you try to say that it is not an all day event, the options to enter a start and end time disappear.

It seems like saving the post as a draft fixes it for the given post.

    Thanks for looking into it.

  • Hi Jonas. Sounds like this is a conflict; I’m unable to recreate this on my install. Have you tried deactivating your other plugins to see if one of them could be causing the issue?

No, no, this is a COMMON problem with 1.6 and WordPress 3.2!

Apparently it has something to do with JQuery changes.

I’m considering the hacks posted at https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/all-day-event-bug-in-wp32-with-solution

but am at a loss as to what to do.

Ah, Jonas is still on 1.6? I was thinking you’d moved up to 2.0. Would be interested in hearing whether the 2.0 upgrade fixes this for you…

Hey, sorry I have been out of the loop for a while. Gotta work, work, work.

I installed the upgrade on another site that has a custom theme. Right now there are no upcoming events so the events page says “Sorry, but there aren’t any posts in the Events category yet.” I will get an event on there and see what happens…

p.s. the thing about the All Day Event options being out of whack was v1.6.5 of the plugin. I have not upgraded that site yet pending what happens with the above site.

No good. When I go to Posts > Add New there are no options to create an event ??

For what it’s worth, Skipper, when I go to https://shirleyandthemastics.com/events/ (without the “topics”) I do see your TEC calendar listing.

Personally I’m sticking with 1.65 for the time being.

Thanks @bwp. I guess that means it’s a problem with the “category base” that I have entered into the Permalinks settings. I tried leaving it blank, but then “category” is automatically substituted into the URL and that doesn’t work either.

I also noticed that there is a separate menu now for adding events and it is no longer part of the normal Posts > Add New page.

So, it almost works. Just have to figure out how to deal with the URL issue…

Oh absolutely, that’s the big difference between 1.x and 2x. (I thought you knew.) The new events are “custom post types” and are entered and maintained in a Events dashboard function separate from the regular Add Post function.

They don’t share categories with regular posts anymore either, which is one big reason I still prefer the old version.

I think we really need to put on different hats when working with the two versions, since they work quite differently.

Thanks. I am also on the fence about this whole thing. I was able to try it on that one site because there is really no activity on that site right now. So, how does one provide a link to the calendar now if it is no longer from the Categories menu? Do you have to use a widget? Is there php code that can be inserted into a template? I guess all of the old posts also have to be deleted or marked as drafts so that the “normal” Events category link does not appear…

It’s not that bad — you’re going to want to check out Shane’s migration tutorial at https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/plugin-the-events-calendar-walkthrough-the-6-steps-to-upgrading-from-165-to-20?replies=10

Thanks. That article doesn’t seem to explain why I am having the URL problem with 2.0 or how to provide a link to the calendar now that it is no longer a category link. I’ll reply there and see what happens.
