Hi fesarlis, the IP 181.224.141.88 resolves to siteground.com. Does it happen to be your site’s domain name?

The plugin doesn’t try to connect to any remote IP when activated. It actually prevents the site from fetching version data from remote WP servers. I’m not sure why it would connect to 181.224.141.88 in your case.

    No it’s not.

As I mentioned, when disabling the plugin this attempt stops. So I cannot assume anything else, than the connection originating from the plugin.

Older versions did not present this issue.

Please have a look again (perhaps the issue came up with the newest WordPress versions?)

Okay, would you please install https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/snitch/ ? It monitors network access and outgoing traffic. You’ll see all outgoing connections in a listing, maybe we can track down the culprit there.

ps. What do you mean with older versions? The plugin hasn’t been updated in the last 6 months. When did the remote IP appear first?

edit. Looked up the IP address and found this site to be hosted on the IP mentioned earlier: https://fooplugins.com/ Do you happen to have any plugins installed from there?

    Hello!

I have the same issue as fesarlis. I have WordPress v4.1 behind a firewall that will not allow outgoing HTTP. I have installed the Disable All WordPress Updates v1.4.3 and it seemed to have improved the speed of the admin interface, but it is still a little slow. I have installed Snitch and here are the results of me clicking around on a couple of pages in the admin interface:

Before installing your plugin, Apache was giving out 2 errors per page load:

[Fri Feb 06 10:28:10 2015] [error] [client 192.168.100.10] PHP Warning: An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with www.ads-software.com or this server’s configuration. Now, after installing your plugin, I only get one error per page load (looks like it fixed the line 295 error):

[Fri Feb 06 10:28:53 2015] [error] [client 192.168.100.10] PHP Warning: An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with www.ads-software.com or this server’s configuration.
