[Plugin: Twitter Tag] Great idea, bad implementation
-
I absolutely LOVE the idea behind this plugin, but have a few issues that will need to be resolved if I am to reactivate the plugin.
First thing … I kept getting duplicate instances of an @reply. I narrowed it down to the duplicates showing up for each time I mentioned the same Twitter user in the article. For example, I mentioned a user four times and there were three duplicates on three of the four instances. I ended up having to place a quote, or bracket (anything to break the link) at the beginning of the @reply of the other three mentions.
Next, for every update to the articles, there was a new tweet sent out announcing the user who was tagged.
And the BIGGEST problem of all … rapid depletion of API calls. Since the link to the Twitter user is not appended to the post in creation, it must call upon the Twitter API to append the link on the fly. This means every time the post is viewed by a user you’re losing precious API calls.
Great idea however … Scott
