  • I am sure if you spent time developing something you would want some sort of credit for it. But sure, log onto the twitter-tools option page and you will see the line that says “Give Twitter Tools credit?” select no, and then save it

    i’ve selected “no” but it has no effect. the posts to twitter all state “from twitter tools” beneath the link

    Link to the site so I can see what you are talking about. Unless you are talking about on twitter itself

    yes, posts/links on twitter all say “from Twitter Tools”

    I have no idea where Twitter is getting this information. I’ve replaced every instance of “Twitter Tools” in the plugin file with different text and the “from Twitter Tools” with associated link still appears at the end of every post that is added to Twitter.

    I love the work that Alex King did with the plugin, but I’m just not interested in that kind of branding on my site/twitter feed. So I’ll be seeking out a new plugin.

    ntharp/Asta:

    Delete the following code from twitter-tools.php file:

    , ‘source’ => ‘twittertools’

    Should be line 437.

    This will remove the “from Twitter Tools” line on Twitter and replace it with “from web”.

    However, please promote the plugin authors where you can and donate if you find a plugin useful as plugins like this take alot of time to produce.

    The reason you cannot change this is because it is referenced from within Twitter itself. The line

    ‘source’ => ‘twittertools’

    is the Twitter account which is used to display the information. You could change this to your Twitter username, but unless you have filled out the ‘request source’ form on Twitter, it will simply display ‘from web’.

    You can read more about this here: https://tinyurl.com/d4mygq <- You might need to open this in a new tab!!

    And it sounds like they don’t want backlinks to blogs, marketing materials etc. (haven’t they heard of rel=”nofollow”?) so if you want your web address to appear in there don’t even bother.
