Plugin update failed.

  • I am getting this message sporadically (sometimes I get it, sometimes I don’t):

    Update Plugin
    Downloading update from https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/akismet.2.6.0.zip…

    Unpacking the update…

    Installing the latest version…

    Removing the old version of the plugin…

    Could not remove the old plugin.

    Plugin update failed.

    What can I do to fix this issue? It’s been going on for some time now, and I’ve found no clear answer/solution to this issue.
