• When attempting to update a plugin, or to install a new plugin, the installation gets as far as “Entering maintenance mode”, and then returns “-1” (without quotes) on the next line. The plugin is neither upgraded or installed. Help appreciated,

Do you have the plugin “Smart Templates” installed? If so, deactivate it, then update your plugins, including that one. Once it updates, you can safely re-activate it.

The problem can also be caused by a recent update of the Astra Starter templates plugins (plugin folder is named Asra-sites)

Try to disable that too before attempting an update. if you have it installed.

Smart Templates is a problem, I had the same problem, after disabling the update was successful, disabling Astra did not have this effect..

Same problem for me as well. Disabling “Starter Templates” allowed me to do the updates. Thank you.

Disabling “Starter Templates” didn’t initially work but after I cleared the Lightspeed Cache it worked. Thanks much @sterndata
