Ran the update for my Business Directory plugin, now my site has crashed with a syntax error and no longer accessible. How can this be fixed? I updated to the latest version of WordPress just before doing the plugin update. Here is the error.

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘[‘ in /home/stokerss/public_html/wp-content/plugins/business-directory-plugin/includes/fields/class-fieldtypes-textarea.php on line 413

    Hi @stokers,

Sorry that you ran into issues with this!

What version of PHP are you currently running on your site? Both BD and WP require a minimum version of PHP 5.6. We’ve had reports of other sites with PHP fatal errors and thus far, most of them have been on PHP 5.4 or earlier.

You can find out the PHP version under Directory Admin->Debug, Environment tab.

If you are on an unsupported version of PHP, I’d recommend to 5.6 or higher. We support anything between 5.6 and 7.2.

Try that and let me know how it goes.

    Hi @stokers:

Following up on this here…I see several other reports, and one person confirming they are on PHP 5.6, which should be supported.

If you are on PHP 5.6, contact us here with a link to this forum thread so we can help out right away…: https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/contact/

But if you’re on an earlier version, you’ll still want to upgrade. Please let me know.

Thanks for your replies, my site was on PHP 5.3 so upgraded to 5.6 (via cPanel) and site now working again.
