• I an hosted on lunarpages.

    website url: https://www.theruralindependent.com

This is a sub domain. The main domain is fine as is an SMF Forum which uses theruralindependent as its parent.

I also have another WP subdomain which is still working fine.

Yesterday I upgraded to what I am 99% sure was 3.05.

Today, I saw where several plug-ins were outdated, so updated them.

I “believe” I got confirmation on the Cntrl Panel that all had updated successfully.

Went to view my site to ensure it was OK – nada, zilch, white screen.

Tried to go back to Cnrtl Panel – same result. Deader than dirt.

Went to lunarpages Cntrl Panel thinking I could re-install WP through Fantastico. It said I had version 2.8 something installed and it offered version 3.03 to install, so I did.

No success, still dead in the water. I mean I get no 404 error, nothing, just dead white space. No webpage and no access to my WP Cntrl Pnl.

As for what plug-ins I upgraded, I really don’t know for sure. A backup one, drop down menu, askimet, stat counter,,,I never recorded them, just relied on access to Control Panel to keep track of them.

Lunar Pages will likely stick me for 75 bucks to do a restore if that will even be a viable option.

Any help or thoughts will be gratefully appreciated.

    Doug

As an addendum to my original post.

I just noticed that my main WP in Fantastico is version 2.3.3 It is offering upgrade to Version 3.0.3.

Now I’m terrified of botching up my other WP installation.

    Should I do the upgrade???

Is there a way (if it will help) to go into my plug-ins folder on the host server and either over-right the plugins with older versions or just replace them with V 3.02 ones?

I’m not getting any responses and am getting antsy to try something! ??

    Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides. You may need to access /wp-login.php to get this to kick in fully.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

Thanks esmi – I tried the re-name of the folder with no success.

By that I mean, I re-named it and then tried accessing the website with no change noted.

I have no idea how I am to edit the /wp-login.php.

    Thank you for your assistance.

OK – Progress…still some issues tho.

By leaving the plugin folder named “.hold”, every thing seems to work fine, only the “plugins” show up all outlined in red and stating, The plugin backupwordpress/backupwordpress.php has been deactivated due to an error: Plugin file does not exist.

As soon as I name this folder back to just “plugins” things break as described below.

I am able to get to my Dashboard and the site itself seems to be functional, comma however that is only for the main page. When trying to click through to any secondary page, it goes nowhere but to a blank, white screen.

Within the Dashboard there are things amiss. I can access the main Dashboard screen, but like the site itself can not click through to any secondary screens. When I select any option I get the blank, white screen and “done” in the lwr left corner.

It is giving me the option to upgrade to 3.05 – should I try that?

Here is my theme and version info:

Theme Meganews Theme with 0 Widgets
    You are using WordPress 3.0.3

    Any other thoughts??

    ThanX!

You have a bad plugin. Reset the plugins folder again but this time create a new “plugins” folder. Move the plugins across to the new folder one at a time until you find the culprit.
