    I get an error message both in the admin and when I’m on the login page when logged in:

    Yes, you go to the edit new fields options page and halfway down there is a table with the fields and a dropdown with the current field order. To change it, just, given your first name field is the first field, make the middle name the second field by changing the dropdown selection box to 2, and then change the last name, if it currently is #2 to #3. If there are other fields you also need to update those accordingly, otherwise it will throw an error that you cannot have duplicate field orders. Hope this helps!
