[Plugin: Viper’s Video Quicktags] with PHP widget?

The Video Quicktags plugin is working fine with the default text widget, displaying video in the sidebar. I’d like to use it with a PHP widget so the URL of the displayed video can be dynamic and come from a custom field.

I tried the PHP Code Widget plugin but all it is doing is echoing the Quicktags shortcode. Is there a PHP widget plugin this will work with? Suggestions for an alternate approach?
