• Frederick first I love your work and thanks for what you do for the community. I have been attempting to install the latest release of W3TC with wordpress 3. In doing so after activation I receive the:

You’ve selected disk caching with enhanced mode however the .htaccess file is not properly configured. Please run chmod 777 /home/waves8/public_html/.htaccess, then . To manually modify your server configuration for enhanced mode append the following code:

I have changed the .htaccess and attempted the retry. You code gets inserted into the .htaccess then I get:

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

    Apache/2.2.14 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.14 OpenSSL/0.9.8e-fips-rhel5 DAV/2 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 Server at https://www.wavesoftech.com Port 80

The site is then totally down and I have to remove the W3TC code from the .htaccess file. Any assistance would be appreciated.

  • FYI i tried the above and it didnt solve the issue. Error 500 still comes up. going crazy.
    D.

Actually I meant changing it, saving and reverting it and saving, then activating W3TC again. Can you try the development version?

Worked like magic! How come? and also what is the difference in Versions?

    thanks,
    Daniel.

No, at some point that domain was on a difference server or otherwise had some path that W3TC (PHP) couldn’t access.

Hello, first thanks Frederick for develop this nice plugin.

I deactivate the plugin and then move the site to another host, i’m trying to active it again but whit not success.

Already tried misc’ section value changing it, saving and reverting it and saving still not working

I remove all the lines in .htaccess and old the files of the plugin, then upload it via FTP and trying again ….

I dont get any 500 error o anything, just i can`t active it, it’s remaing in the # Recently Active list

EDIT: i downloading the development version and now works fine

    Cool.

I am trying to switch from using Super cache to this plugin to no avail. I have removed any instance of super cache including in htaccess; all the permissions are correct for the folders and the file. I am still getting a internal server error when attempting to activate this plugin.

Did you make sure your .htaccess file was restored to the state before WP Super Cache was installed? Is the un-installation of WP Super Cache 100% complete?
