• When I try to enable DB caching I get the following message:

Database caching is not available. db.php is not installed. Either the C:\xampp\htdocs\wordpress/wp-content directory is not write-able or you have another caching plugin installed.

Where do I get the db.php?

And the test system is a windows directory, where PHP has write access – the last sentence doesn’t make sense for me.

  • You can copy db.php from the wp-content/ directory inside the plugin’s directory itself.

In other to make sure that this doesn’t happen to other people I’d need your help in troubleshooting the conditions that cause this error.

I had the plugin DB Cache Reloaded uninstalled after I installed W3 Total.

The uninstallation handler of DB Cache Reloaded removed the db.php, and W3 Total didn’t reinstall it. ??

Would you mind doing a clean installation and let me know if the issue still exists? Windows may need to have files written and not copied into place.

Thanks, I did the same thing, it seems when you disable DB Cache Reloaded it takes db.php out, and then W3 is left without it. Thanks for the post!

    Ok.
