• Hi there,

    I just upgraded to the last version and my Minify settings (css files and JS) are just gone.

    I guess it’s not feature but lucky me I saw it.

    Maybe the plugin should warn about it or just save that minify settings.

    Waiting for answer,

    Thanks.

    The update does not replace your settings file or you would see thousands of users with this complaint. So sorry, but please use the help tool to reinstall your settings and next time backup your settings using the tool on the general settings tab.

    Then it has to be my (2) installs.

    Regards.

    I lost my minify settings as well.. which is a REAL bummer.. I spent hours tweaking them and they are completely lost. I have all of my other settings.. but the css and js minify settings are not there at all. I tried downgrading back to the old version, but that didn’t bring them back. Maybe I’ll go back even further? I don’t understand how to use the Help tool to reinstall my settings?

    Thanks!

    I went back and found and old backup I had of the W3-Total_cache settings and uploaded it and it STILL does not show my minify css and js settings. The are wiped out.

    @hotforwords

    The settings are stored in the file w3-total-cache-config.php. If it is not working when you upload it you can still manually recover the settings if they are in the file.

    If you paste the contents of that file to https://wordpress.pastebin.com/ I will take a look and see if they are there. (If you use CDN remove the usernames and passwords stored in the file for security)

    Just raising my hand here, too — upgrading caused W3TC to forget the minify settings (ie the list of script and CSS files) on my two installations as well.

    @mpclark,

    If you need to recover your settings you can export the settings from plugin through the dashboard. All your file settings will be in the config file and you will have to manually add them back to the plugin.

    Yep – w3 Total Cache loses its settings every time it gets upgraded.

    Funny thing. It’s not only me ??

    Nope – done it on two separate upgrades across about 3 sites – very annoying …

    You’re all right and I was wrong. The hash calculated to determine theme names changes during upgrade. If you backup your settings file, save a minify setting for CSS/JS then you can find the new hash value, edit your backup file and then use it to restore.

    So we have to do that every time? There’s no auto-upgrade?

    No, there’s a bug at the moment. Working on some changes.

    Hi Frederick – did this bug ever get fixed?

    Yes, in the next release.
