• I’m using W3 Total Cache with Amazon CloudFront on a HostGator shared web account. I am using WordPress 3.2, the latest version of the ElegantThemes theme Chameleon, and the most recent version of W3 Total Cache in the repository.

I’ve been running speed tests using webpagetest.org, averaging the results of multiple (5-10) tests. Here are the results I’ve been getting for initial load times with different configurations:

    No minification: 2.91 seconds
Minifying JS & CSS: 2.58 seconds
    Minifying only JS: 2.47 seconds
    Minifying only CSS: 3.43 seconds

These results seem very strange to me. Minifying both CSS and JS only results in a tiny speed increase–a fraction of a second. But what is even stranger is that minifying CSS is actually SLOWER than not minifying at all.

Any input? Is this just something that happens, and I’m better off not using the minify feature? Or is there some obvious configuration problem?
