• Hello,

W3TC has always been hands down my go to plugin for performance optimization on all my WordPress sites I build. Recently though I’ve been noticing some performance issues on my sites hosted via Rackspace Cloud Sites. With the plugin enabled, the sites take upwards of 20 seconds just to load the home page. I’ve got local dev setup for the same sites and of course local dev will be faster but it’s obviously much slower and something is going on.

I contacted Rackspace support and they said with some recent update something has happened with the plugin that is causing performance issues in the Cloud Sites environment. They suggested I deactivate the plugin and try WP Super Cache instead which I did and this has made the page loading much faster, more around what it should be.

I haven’t done much investigation into the issue myself as far as trying alternative configurations within W3TC but I usually use the same settings for each site – page cache, browser cache, minification and object cache.

Is anyone else experiencing similar issues to this or does anyone have any ideas for what the problem could be?

    Thanks,
    Jonah

  • Try disabling Object Cache.
On my installation, if I enable Object Cache, my server will try to connect to Google IP (?) on port 80 (www), and my blog feels so slow. I can confirm / reproduce it.
I don’t know maybe because something to do with my other plugin.
