[Plugin: Wiki Embed] Presentation of source URLs
-
Hi, after a couple of weeks using Wiki Embed there are two minor problems that you might want to consider:
– Long URLs could be trimmed
A wiki might have good reasons to use long titles (just like blog post titles), and therefore have long URLs. See for instance:
https://espiral.org/wiki/La_sociedad_debe_tender_a_generar_un_impacto_medioambiental_m%C3%ADnimo
and the corresponding
https://espiral.org/la-sociedad-debe-tender-a-generar-un-impacto-medioambiental-minimo/
The link under Source is shown fully, and it actually forces the width of the page in some browsers. This is not a problem in a desktop monitor, but in a mobile device can make e.g. your home look really ugly. See https://www.flickr.com/photos/quimgil/6803659799/in/photostream
The problem would be solved trimming the URL just like e.g. forum software does:
https://espiral.org/la-sociedad-debe-tender…
Or simply put a “Source” link and be good with it. No need to see the URL (usually ugly) of wiki pages.
URLs with non-English characters look ugly. Tajke the same example as above. MediaWiki and the browser can display
https://espiral.org/wiki/La_sociedad_debe_tender_a_generar_un_impacto_medioambiental_mínimo (see the accentuated “í” in “mínimo”. Could Wiki Embed present it also in the nice, readable way as opposed to
https://espiral.org/wiki/La_sociedad_debe_tender_a_generar_un_impacto_medioambiental_m%C3%ADnimo ?
Again, an alternative would be simply not to show the URL but an editable “Source” link instead.
