  • Regarding this:
“I also tried turning OFF og:title: in the plugin, but when the settings are saved it just turns back on. This is on the latest version, 0.3.2.”

It was a bug. It’s fixed on the next version that I’ll release today.

Regarding Platinum SEO, I’ll take a look.
Are you SURE that it picked up the titles before? I’m not sure it did… I had to code specific to pick up “Subheading” https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/plugin-wonderm00ns-simple-facebook-open-graph-meta-tags-incorporate-subheading

Thanks for a great plugin wonderm00n. I’ll watch for the update.

As for Plat SEO. I could have sworn it worked in the past. Having it pick up the critical tag is critical for FB shares etc as the tag is now always the same as the page/post name.

I only started noting this recently so while I can’t be positive, I’m pretty certain it worked in the past.

All In One SEO is another popular one and I think they use similar method in tagging the title. They inset the title into the source of the page so I would think OG:Title would pick it up.

I believe without your plugin installed the title tag is used automatically on social shares. So maybe the solution is just to turn of OG:title if your plugin does not see it. That’s what I was going to try.

    Will report back.

OK I updated to 0.3.3. I can confirm that OG:Title can now be disabled.

I can also confirm that it is not picking up the title tag, but only the posts/page name. If if disable OG:Title and then go to the FB linter and review the data, it gives me a warning of a missing OG:Title, but it does load from the title tag, even though it says the “property is not explicitly provided”.

For now I left off OG:title in the plugin so I could gets the title to show up properly. Hopefully in the future you can update the plugin to read the title tag so that I don’t get any warning in the linter.

    Thanks again… Gav
