If I activate the WooCommerce plugin (v.1.6.5.1) I can no longer use the ‘Media Library’ tab in the Media Picker (when adding images).

I’ve looked on my browser logs, and tried to go to the url directly:

    wp-admin/media-upload.php?post_id=123&type=image&tab=library

The browser (Safari) says: “Cannot decode raw data”
Firefox says: “Content Encoding Error. The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because it uses an invalid or unsupported form of compression.”

As soon as I deactivate wooCommerce, the media loads fine.

Any idea what could cause this, and how to fix it?

Check to see if you have other plugins that may be conflicting with Woocommerce. Try turning off all other plugins except Woocommerce and see if it still happens.

I did that, all plugins off: works
    only woocommerce on: breaks
WP latest version. no core files hacked.

I also checked if there was any issues od DB tables, anaylze/repaired, nothing found.

In woocommerce system check, it does say one problem found: PHP sessions tmp folder not found.

but according to my hosting provider the directory (/var/www/tmp) does exist, though wooCommerce reports it does not..

OK, I found out what the problem was. I’m running WooCommerce with HeadWay 3 (Yes I found out how to do that, can release a plug-in/walkthrough if anyone’s interested) ..

Anyway, Headway has an advanced option to turn on gzip compression. Maybe the issue with HeadWay and wooCommerce together is, that they both try to apply compression, so you get garbled compression data.. turning off gzip compression under HeadWay’s advanced settings, fixes the problem.

I am creating a new site and would like to use Headway and wooCommerce together. Is this still working for you?

    Do you have any pointers?

I’m interested in information about making WooCommerce and Headway play nice together. The site in question is https://virtuallyyou.org and we are pretty flexible with whatever solution will be easiest. Any info would be much appreciated ??

OMG thanks Mikkel! That worked like a charm!

Since I started this thread HeadWay has released an official WooCommerce Block called StoreFront. I’m now using that, but the problem with the media picker when headway is set to enable gzip compression still exists. It has nothing to do with WooCommerce though.
