[Plugin : Wordbooker] Bug reports
-
If people are having problems with my Wordbooker plugin rather than just voting saying its “broken” can you please post some information and I’ll look into it.
I know that it doesn’t play well with some other Facebook plugins down to the fact that they are using old and obsolete versions of the Facebook API client libraries which don’t support the methods this plugin uses. Unfortunately there isn’t a lot I can do about that.

Oh, I feel a bit silly but I’ve installed Wordbooker and it it appears to be configured and running – but nothing posts to the facbook account. I’ve got the diagnostics running but I’m not sure what I should be looking for. Where do I start? Could it be my theme? I’m doing this as a favor for a friend – here is the site: https://www.kidfoodmatters.com
Does the administrator on the facebook end have to approve the post before it will show – or is it just supposed to show up?
I’ve got these plugins running:
Contact Form 7 ( 2.3.1 )
Sidebar Photoblog ( 2.06 )
Subscribe To Comments ( 2.1.2 )
FreeCharity.org.uk WordPress Petition ( 2.3.5 )
WP-reCAPTCHA ( 2.9.7 )Thank you for any help you can provide.
IF the diagnostics are set then when you do a post it should create some diagnostics which are displayed when you go to the Wordbooker options page.
Posts to FB don’t need authorisation from anyone – just make sure that when you go to post from your blog that you’ve got the correct target set and that you’ve got the publish to Facebook option set.
Its all explained in the user guide.
Thank you Steve,
I have read the user guide. I didn’t find it helpful in determining my issue. I am getting a great deal of data within the diagnostic table – however I don’t know what I’m looking for. I’ve put what I’m seeing up here: https://www.kidfoodmatters.com/diagnostics.htmlI do have the publish to Facebook option set. But I’m not sure what you mean by “you’ve got the correct target set”… can please give me some steps to check my settings (where/what) Thank you.
OK what that shows is that the post has been made to Facebook and that its gone to your personal wall (and I’ve just looked at your wall and the posts are there).
If you want to post to your Fan Wall then change the post settings so that it posts to your Fan Wall (which is the 3rd option in the user level options). You can chose to post to either your personal wall or a fan page wall or both.
After working fine with some posts, today it failed:
Note that half an hour before this log part, it retrieved Facebook status well.

Now I even had reconnect to Facebook. Looks like the plugin thinks it did everything ok…
But that shows that it posted to your personal wall as it got a FB Post_ID returned. So I’m not quite sure what you’re saying is wrong.
Well, the post never showed up. But as you said, it appears as if Facebook messed up this one. The question is: can you make your plugin more failproof, e.g. can you look wether the post really appeared on the wall?
If its getting a facebook post_ID back then its been posted on the wall as far as Facebook is concerned – the only way I could check it without killing the whole process would be to do a query against the FB Database to see if the post is actually there.
I went to check on your wall but its private.
you rock.
Steve, I forced (re)publishing which worked. You can believe me: the post was not there. If you say Facebook messed up, I believe you since the log looks like it.
Such a security query sound nice iff it does not slow down things too much.
Of course my wall is private ?? How did you know where to look, anyway?
Besides, why is facebook.com accessed while loading the blog? I switched off all features I could besides publishing.
I can look into the double check – I might make it a selectable option which by default is turned off.
I knew where to look because FB post_IDs are unique but include the FB ID of the target.
I’m not quite sure what you mean by the last part of your post.
login_status.php from Facebook prompts for download. Known bug (https://forum.developers.facebook.net/viewtopic.php?id=72125) that just popped up, due to some change on Facebook for applications that call/interact with Facebook. Had to deactivate Wordbooker until bug is fixed (apparently only in IE) so that site visitors are not worried about security problems with OUR site. Hopefully this will be fixed soon; however, it is the lowest priority for the Facebook development team right now, P5 priority.
I actually raised it as a critical bug to do with Authentication. . It only seems to affect IE 6 and 7 and happens when you try to authenticate in the back end or if you are using the share/like options on the front end for some very odd reason
Editing previous post …
I don’t know what I did but I got it to work finally, after uninstalling and starting over …
But the like buttons don’t show on the blog.
Thoughts?
Have you made sure that you’ve got the two “show” options set and then set where you want the buttons to show. Also have you checked the theme to make sure it contains the correct Doc-type and also either has the correct xmlns tags or has the WordPress language_attributes() function
