• Hi, I’m quite concerned as I was about to upgrade manually from WP6.0 to 6.1 when I saw that WordPress recommends this automatic upgrade. I noticed that the first thing the plugin does is take backups, so I didn’t.

All I did was FTP the plugin into the plugins folder, got to the plugins page in wp-admin and click ‘Activate’ by WordPress Automatic Upgrade, and it took me to one of my ISP’s error pages saying “Error 500 – Internal Server Error. An internal server error has occured!
    Please try again later.
    “.

The website is still live, but every time I go to wp-admin I get this error. I’m very concerned does anyone have any suggestions? Is there a way to de-activate this plugin directly from the WordPress Database?

  • have you tried deleting the plugin directly from the FTP? did you backup first?

As I wrote above, as one of the main features of the plugin was that it created back-ups for you, I didn’t make additional backups. Anyway, I have just deactivated the plugin by going straight into the wp_options table using PHPMyAdmin, and I can once again see wp-admin.

I will in future stick with manual backups!

Hi Earthoria, I have exactly the same problem as you, exactly the way you described it, and I wonder how were you able to resolve it.

    Thank you!

    Anto.
