Does this happen every time or is it just a one off?

Is your server fire walled from outgoing requests?
Can you ping api.dropbox.com from it?

    Same problem here:
Exception – Unable to connect to ssl://api.dropbox.com:443. Error: php_network_getaddresses: getaddrinfo failed: Name or service not known

It worked before with previous versions of WordPress Backup to Dropbox

Do you have openssl installed and activated in your PHP?

    How can i check this?

I’m new with web development… have the same issue.

“Unable to connect to ssl://api.dropbox.com:443. Error:”

From my research, I sent a note to tech support at smallbusiness.yahoo.com (my website host) inquiring whether they have allowed SSL in the servers PHP configuration. – I’ve not heard anything from them yet.

Is this configurable by the WordPress user? If anyone has a recommendation, I’d be very grateful.
