[Plugin: WordPress HTTPS (SSL)] Update to 3.1 causing problems on my site

Hi, I just updated to 3.1 and it has caused a few things to go wrong on our site. We are using the mantra theme. For example, the background file has completely disappeared and when I go into the admin side to try to look at it, I get a white screen when accessing the mantra appearance settings. Photos are also extremely slow in appearing.
