• I have an existing site with 600 users. I need to update a localhost mirror I’m working on ahead of writing over the production site. I’m only missing about 7 days of posts, but this runs at around 90 posts with comments. Using export Filters, I exported only a month’s posts and pages. When it comes to importing, however, I have three options: 1. create new users (which I don’t want to do,as the users already exist); map all the new posts to me (which I don’t want to do, as I didn’t write them), or manually map each author (600+ entries). Surely there is a better way than inputing 600+ names?

I read up and saw that there are filters in the file, and that “add new user” can be turned off. I did that, but it didn’t make a difference when it came to the import; I still had blank fields and 600 names in a pull down tab.

I saw this, but it is from a long time ago:

Has anyone modded the present version of Importer to allow for near automatic mapping to EXISTING users?

    Please help, thanks

Am I missing something, or this a really important functionality that just isn’t working?

I have 600 users. When I import, WordPress Importer is not mapping new posts to existing authors. It should do, surely.
